It It makes a fantastic facial soap, as well as being used as a natural shampoo for very dry hair. As a body soap, it is suitable for all skin types but particularly helpful for dry skin.

Hand crafted in Ghana:
African black soap is hand crafted by women’s co-operatives in Ghana. The women use techniques that have been used for thousands of years. A unique soap, black soap is made with a potash lye. The potash is made from cocoa leaves and shells and plantain leaves. This plant based lye gives black soap it’s characteristic chocolate brown colour. The high content of shea butter in black soap gives it a creamy quality that is ideal for dry, sensitive skin.
Ethical trading:
Our black soap is sourced from a women’s project in Ghana. They produce environmentally friendly and socially responsible African products such as organic shea butter. This project enables thousands of Ghanaian women to supply an international market with their produce. Supporting such projects facilitates the protection of trees such as the shea parklands. It also preserves biodiversity and the natural habitats of hippopotamus living by the Black Volta River.
How to keep your soap at its best:
African Black Soap is naturally soft and crumbly and absorbs water easily. Keep your bar on a soap dish or slice a piece from the main bar. As this is a pure product made with botanical ingredients, you may get the occasional grain of grit in it, so rub it into your hands first, rather than straight on the body.

I have been using this soap for years! I can use it on my face and body, which means I only have to pack one thing when I go away. I started using it in combination with Akamuti’s jojoba oil and chamomile water to treat Rosacea with great success. I love it. Rosacea is such a tricky thing to treat and differs for everyone, but I would highly recommend giving this a go if you are searching for a product to help. Oil cleanse first, then use the soap next. Finish with a spray of the chamomile water. Such a great company, super quick delivery, with amazing products are a pleasure to use.

I have been using this for years and I love it!
I have had acne for 5 years, been on accutane (which dries out your skin), and then have my acne return again. The soap has been my best friend through all of it.
I have tried many different things to control my acne, but this is the only one that doesn’t irritate my skin and still keeps the worst away.
I recommend it to friends and family all the time.
