INGREDIENTS INFORMATION

Do you declare all of the ingredients on your website?

Yes we do. The full ingredient list can be found on the ingredients tab on each product page. If you need more information about any of the ingredients we use please contact us.

Are you certified with the Soil Association?

We are not certified or licensed by the Soil Association due to administrative and membership costs. All of our organic ingredients come from an accredited source, usually the Soil Association or Ecocert.

Do your products contain preservatives like parabens?

No, we don’t use any preservatives in our products. We rely completely on botanical oils and butters with a natural shelf life.

How long do your products last without preservatives?

Our products have a shorter shelf life than conventional products, usually an average of 12-18 months. We make everything in small batches to ensure you receive them at their freshest and with the longest shelf life. Our formulations are water free which increases their shelf life and keeps them fresher for longer.

PACKAGING INFORMATION

Why do you use PET tubs and bottles?

As a company, consistency and reliability in packaging is extremely important to us and our customers. Originally we used aluminium packaging for our powders and butters. However it was extremely unreliable! We now use PET tubs which are reliable, consistent and easily recycled. Our PET tubs are BPA and phthalate free and we look forward to buying recycled PET bottles and tubs as soon as they are available on the UK market.

How do you feel about using plastic?

We cannot escape from plastic ourselves. All of our oils and waters arrive in plastic and are stored in plastic, it is the only way to transport them from place to place. This will be true of most oils (cosmetic and food) unless the product is bottled at the farm. However, we recycle everything that we receive, so nothing goes to the landfill. We feel it is a necessary evil! We are looking forward to using recycled PET bottles when they arrive on the UK market, so this way we will be using both a recycled and a recyclable product.

Why don’t you use glass for everything?

Glass is weighty to pack and increasingly expensive. With the rising cost of oils and international shipping, we felt that we did not want to add all these extra costs to our product prices and make them inaccessible to our customers. Many brands have very inflated prices and we like to keep ours down to earth and reasonable! Glass is not a viable option to package our powders or butters in, due to its sheer weight and cost in that size jar. The cost of the jar outweighs that of the contents and we don’t want to pass on these extra costs. The PET containers are lighter to post and require significantly less wrap to ship. The lighter bottles are also safer to send overseas.

Do you offer a refill service?

Refilling is an excellent idea – however the practical logistics in sending packaging back to us for cleaning is not something we could accommodate at this time. Our PET containers are fully recyclable, so we encourage recycling with your weekly collection as much as possible.
