Organic Shea Butter
Our organic shea butter is hand crafted by women using techniques that have been used for thousands of years. This amazing butter is full of natural goodness and one of the richest moisturisers available. Thick and nourishing, this all natural skin food is renowned the world over for its rehydrating properties. It is the perfect choice for dry skin. Organic shea butter has traditionally been used for all skincare needs. Super softening, shea butter is excellent for baby skincare, anti-aging face care, nourishing body care, muscle rubs, sun care and hair care. Solid at room temperature, leave your shea butter somewhere warm to soften up. Alternatively, take a small amount of shea butter from your tub and allow it to warm and soften in the palm of your hand. Apply some to dry skin after a shower while the skin is still warm for the best results.
Our organic shea butter is sourced from a women’s project in Ghana. Shea butter is an important resource to many communities. Regardless of their indigenous knowledge, women are often excluded from mainstream employment because they do not have a formal education. Organic shea butter provides a valuable and sustainable source of income for these women, ensuring better amenities for their communities. The women’s project produce environmentally friendly and socially responsible African products such as African black soap. The project enables thousands of Ghanaian women to supply an international market with their produce. Supporting such projects facilitates the protection of trees, ie. the shea parklands in the Western Savannah. It also preserves biodiversity and the natural habitats of hippopotamus living by the Black Volta River.
Please Note: Shea Butter contains a natural substance which is similar to latex and it’s use should be avoided by people with a latex allergy.
Fairly traded with producers in Ghana, this organic shea butter is an important resource for local communities. The producers harvest shea nuts from wild Karite trees. Over 94% of the producers are women who have an extensive knowledge of the butter and its production. Regardless of their indigenous knowledge, women are excluded from mainstream employment because they do not have a formal education. Shea butter provides a valuable and sustainable source of income to these people and ensures better amenities for their communities.
Tip! Just before going to bed, slather your feet in shea butter, slip on a pair of old socks (to save your bed sheets!) and in the morning your feet will be baby soft!
