This unique & beautiful African oil has an incredible deep orange colouring & is a rich source of vitamin E & pro-vitamin A in the form of carotenoids. It contains about 15 times more carotenoids than carrots which might explain its vibrant colour! Made from palms using traditional methods, there are no commercial plantation-grown palm fruits used in the oil production. This exclusive oil comes in its natural state; it has not been refined in any way and contains all its natural vitamins and antioxidants.
Red palm oil is widely used as a skin moisturiser and is reputed to be excellent for conditions such as dermatitis & psoriasis. The high levels of vitamin A has a rejuvenating effect on the skin, helping dry, weathered skin & believed to reduce sun sensitivity. Vitamin E is a fantastic skin vitamin & has a positive effect on dryness, scarring and stretch marks.
Firm at room temperature, red palm oil melts quickly on skin contact. In Africa, red palm oil will always be fluid but in our cooler climes we have a wonderful ready made soft 'butter' with an amazing colour. This is great for adding to your own recipes to give them a bit of colour. On its own it melts very easily into the skin & has a rich earthy scent. Watch out around white clothes & linen - as red palm oil can stain!
